FULL-TIME: Manchester United 0 - 2 PSG

04.05

So that's that then. Man United were half decent in the first half and put some fluid attacking moves together - mostly down the left - but ultimately the skill and class of Ibrahimovic, Lucas Moura and Thiago Silva proved too much.

If Van Gaal does take anything away from this the only really obviously worrying aspects of the performance were Schweinsteiger's invisibility and the defence losing concentration on a number of occasions. Again, it is pre-season so there's no need to be disappointed. If you even were.

PSG the worthy winners,

Thanks for reading everyone! Check out our five things we learned piece now.

90 minutes +2

FULL-TIME! PSG 2-0 Man United. PSG win the International Champions Cup

90 minutes +1

PSG win the ball from Pereira on the left and pass it around the midfield and defence. This is almost over

89 minutes

Andreas Pereira lines up a freekick 35 yards out, prepares, does the first move in the YMCA dance, and then punts the ball straight out of play for a goalkick. Not the best of days overall for Louis Van Gaal's side.

88 minutes

It's taken me all night but finally, ladies and gentlemen, here is a photograph from the action this morning!

86 minutes

One goal for Manchester United could change everything as PSG need to win by two to take home that amazing trophy we were discussing earlier. United work their way towards the box but an attempt to find room for a shot is thwarted by the defence once more.

84 minutes

PSG are just closing this game out now. United have reverted to pinging the ball forward in a very direct style and though the substitutes have the energy to press high like the starting XI did in the first half, they can't win the ball off a very talented back duo of Luiz and Marquinhos.

81 minutes

Michael Carrick comes off for Sean Goss and Juan Mata trudges off to be replaced by Jesse Lingard

79 minutes

Rooney keeps trying to get his team to drive forward but the ball continues to be given away needlessly in the final third. A wild challenge by Valencia has left Digne on the floor in agony. He receives a yellow card and the player he attacked is still on the ground.

76 minutes

Marquinhos, that very promising young Brazilian defender, has been booked for a stupid foul from behind on Wayne Rooney. Rooney looks frustrated, like when you're in a really long queue at H&M and realise you needed to get some trousers as well, and you can see the trousers but you know if you leave the queue it'll be another 15 minute wait just to get back where you were.

True story.

74 minutes

We're entering dangerous "hump it up to Fellaini" territory. The Belgian is still on the bench at the moment, but as we've seen in the past with Van Gaal, when he needs to score a goal in the last ten minutes, that's normally the route he takes. Route One.

72 minutes

Juan Mata is unfortunate to miss out on a corner kick, as David Luiz blocks his attempt at a jinking, little run in the PSG box. United don't look like they're going to get back into this.

69 minutes

More substitutions as a flying Valencia slide-tackle-lunge on Matuidi is correctly adjudged to be a foul. Off goes Ibrahimovic and Matuidi and on come some promising PSG youth players, in the form of Christopher Nkunku and Herven Engonda, who helped me win the Europa League on Football Manager.

65 minutes

Valencia and Smalling have come on now for United, with Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian off. It looks like Blind has gone to left back to accommodate Smalling, while Valencia is a straight swap

63 minutes

Thiago Silva comes off and almost straight away Rooney heads a pass across the six yard bos to Memphis. The forward is unable to steer his volley on target though and it's a goal kick

62 minutes

A lengthy spell of possession for United - almost all of it running through Schneiderlin - ends with another cross from the left which fires across the PSG defence. Pereira delivers but neither Rooney nor Memphis can get their heads on it.

60 minutes

Beautiful play from PSG in the middle of the park as they make their way up the pitch. One touch, outside of the boot flicks and passes carry the ball about 40 yards but eventually United win back possession as the ball spins loose.

57 minutes

Memphis punts the ball towards the goal from his own half, falls over and watches the ball disappear. Meanwhile, the referee awards a freekick to Wayne Rooney. I have no idea what just happened. The commentators don't either. Oh and add Marco Veratti to that list.

55 minutes

Great attacking play from United! Linked passes between most of the midfield players ends as Pereira hits a brilliant cross/pass from the right corner of the box which curls almost onto the end of the poaching Juan Mata’s boot about six yards out. The Spaniard gets caught in two minds and the ball rolls over the line for a goal kick.

52 minutes

Ibrahimovic takes a - you guessed it - chipped through-ball down outside the box and almost gets through on goal but better defending by United's back line makes sure the danger is cleared

51 minutes

Pereira gets a little bit excited and concedes a freekick. In Premier League world that would be a yellow, but this is a friendly so it's not. His rash slide tackle comes moments after some excellent skill on the left wing to keep the ball in play

49 minutes

Oh and Cavani has come on for Augustin too. And no, nothing has happened yet. Both teams just keeping the ball for a bit

48 minutes

47 minutes

For the last 15 minutes it has taken every ounce of my being not to smash my computer in to a million tiny bits. I wasn't being rude, I did really want to tell you what was going on for the last little while, but I couldn't.

ANYWAY. United kick off for the second half

45 minutes

KICK OFF PART 2

03.08

Schneiderling and Pereira are set to come on for the second half. I'd imagine this will be for Carrick and Schweinsteiger

03.06

The most useful thing I've ever taken away from pre-season games is seeing how new signings get on with each other. Darmian looks fine, Schweinsteiger hasn't really done anything and Memphis has actually looked quite exciting. Have I learned anything today? Apart from that I hate computers, no.

03.02

02.58

To be honest, other than the two goals which mean they are losing, United have looked dangerous down the left, have pressed well high up the pitch and have had a couple of half-decent chances. The midfield keep losing the ball in dangerous positions though and with Ibrahimovic and Lucas Moura in the mood for fun, they have rightly been punished for poor defending.

45 minutes

HALF-TIME! David De Gea walks off with an annoyed look on his face and Louis Van Gaal will have his work cut out for him as he tries to recover a lead that he really, honestly, doesn't need to worry too much about. No-one's going to mind too much, pal.

44 minutes

United give the ball away again in the middle of the park and allow PSG to break. Carrick and Schweinsteiger are able to clear up the mess they nearly they made.

41 minutes

I'd really like to share some photographs with you but I assure when I say I am having an absolute computer nightmare right now, I am underplaying the severity of the situation. United can't get the ball off PSG now and a brilliant move - controlled by Ibrahimovic - ends as a placed Lucas Moura shot from 20 yards is held by De Gea.

38 minutes

Patient build up play from United but it comes to nothing. As soon as they lose the ball they press to win it back, making it very difficult for PSG to get out of their own half

36 minutes

Memphis takes a freekick around 25/30 yards out by the corner of the box in that knuckleball style made famous by Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, but actually really made famous by Juninho Pernambucano. Either way, it's not very good but PSG's goalkeeper struggles to parry it away. Nothing happens from the corner.

34 minutes

GOAL! Zlatan Ibrahimovic starts a move in the middle of the park, then bursts forward to receive the ball back and plays in Maxwell on the left. The Brazilian returns the favour and finds the Swede in the middle of the box, as he manages to evade Phil Jones for a tap in. 2-0 PSG!

32 minutes

Apart from the poor bit of defending he did for the goal, Luke Shaw has been great so far. He bursts forward, taking advantage of United's dominance on the left flank, and is fouled as he slips a pass out wide. The cross which follows ends in a corner, which Trapp catches with absolute ease.

31 minutes

The ball is bounced back and forth between both defences before an attack down the United left leaves Wayne Rooney with a chance to shoot from 30 yards. He takes his shot.... but it's high. Not far off though.

29 minutes

United find themselves outside the PSG box once more. Mata skilfully keeps the ball under control and passes to Rooney, who is unable to keep his half-volley down. It sails over the bar

25 minutes

That goal came from yet another chipped through ball from deep but was defended horribly by United. Matuidi broke forward and took the ball down well, but both Jones and Shaw were unable to hold off the Frenchman and De Gea's positioning left PSG's number 14 with a simple finish.

25 minutes

GOAL! Matuidi makes the score 1-0 PSG.

23 minutes

Another opportunity for United as Wayne Rooney's shot is blocked inside the corner of the 18 yard box. Well defended

22 minutes

GOAL...... disallowed. Manchester United's high line almost lets Zlatan clean through on goal and from the resulting change in possession another long ball forward finds Juan Mata in the box. His finish ends up in the back of the net but the Spaniard was offisde

21 minutes

Close! A PSG corner finds Ibrahimovic pretty much unmarked at the back post but his header is wide of the post

19 minutes

Luke Shaw picks the ball up on the left wing and drives forward 20 yards. His cross is just too close to the first defender and Wayne Rooney can't get his head on it. PSG back in possession but United definitely in charge

16 minutes

The way that ball dropped and failed to run through to the keeper might be a feature in this game - long balls stop quickly when they hit the grass.

16 minutes

Michael Carrick plays a great lofted through ball from just inside the PSG half, which almost stops dead on the pitch and allows Rooney to turn inside. His layoff finds Memphis Depay running into space outisde the box but his shot is wild and fires well wide

15 minutes

Ashley Young gets hold of the ball and almost breaks into the box but his pass is high and Rooney has to control the ball and move it backwards. A rash challenge by Veratti at the other end looked to have caught Phil Jones late but the Italian is annoyed about the foul called against him.

11 minutes

Both teams are pressing really high up the pitch looking to force and take advantage of any mistakes. The ball looks to be moving rather slowly on the pitch too, which might make counter attack transitions a bit more difficult/laboursome.

9 minutes

A poor header by Van Der Wiel almost opens up an opportunity but Luke Shaw's cross from inside the 18 yard box strikes Thiago Silva and just sort of disappears from danger. End to end stuff, as a more cliche prone football man might say.

8 mins

A Juan Mata corner is then cleared away by PSG. Smart work by Zlatan almost opens up a counter attack but the move fizzles out quickly and United regain possession

6 mins

PSG's Lucas Moura wastes a corner by blasting the ball over everyones' heads

4 mins

Nervy stuff from United in the opening stages. Clearly under instructions to keep the ball from goalkicks and when in defence, the passes have caused a couple of near misses with PSG players who are pressed high up the pitch

3 mins

David De Gea gives the ball away to Zlatan Ibrahimovic while trying to play out from the back, but the mighty Swede blasts over the bar

1 min

Kick off! PSG start the game with the ball

02.05

The teams are out! Everyone shakes each other's hand and poses for a photograph. In a way it's like a high school reunion. In another way, it's like Man United vs PSG. And it's live!

02.02

If PSG want to win the International Rescue Cup they have to beat United by more than two goals

02.00

A nice rendition of the American national anthem and things are nearly, nearly, almost about to start. Look how nice the scoreboards are!

01.56

I've spotted about eight PSG fans in the stadium, not including players and staff

01.53

The warm-ups are just about over. The players just doing some passing of the ball before they head into the dressing room to get... dressed. Changed? While they're doing that, you can enjoy a cartoon I made about Ed Woodward's transfer policy. He's gotten a lot better at it since...

01.51

01.47

We're getting closer to kick-off now which - for no reason at all - reminds me that you can tweet me if you wished to do such a thing. @jj_bull is the magic code you need to join in with everyone else who uses that particular social media platform, which appears to have been designed solely for people to insult everything I ever do to my face.

01.45

I can only assume that Di Maria isn't playing tonight to prevent him being cup tied for the next International Champions Cup

01.44

01.42

There are two teams playing tonight, as there are in most football games, and so here is the PSG lineup:

01.40

Schweinsteiger will only play 45 minutes according to Louis Van Gaal.

01.35

Soldier Field is the oldest NFL stadium in America and tonight looks to be pretty much filled by Man United fans. The stands look to be about 90% red at the moment, which reminds me a bit of what going to school was like before Chelsea started winning things.

01.33

The Manchester United supporters among you appear to be quite optimistic about Louis Van Gaal's side's chances.

My moneys on Memphis to score 1st and United 3-1 win...

I have a lot of faith in him, think he'll surprise a lot of people this season. He has great potential!

Ryan Blandford, Newport.

01.29

I've noticed something has creeped in to football coverage this pre-season and it is the idea that a player has "made his debut" for a new club in a friendly. I'm pretty sure from having played Football Manager - a lot - that this isn't the case.

01.27

Neil Hodge has written in to let me know what he thinks about the match that is about to unfold and makes a very valid point.

Hi,

Man Utd will be desperate to win the International Monetary Fund Cup.... With its prestige and history, it comes only second to the historical Emirates Cup

01.23

01.17

I'd very much appreciate any emails you'd like to send me by the way. Tell me what you think the score should be, how desperate you are for United to win the International Space Station Cup or just tell me something interesting that you know about any of the players.

joseph.bull@telegraph.co.uk is where you can reach me

01.15

In my head his last name is Depay, but United's new signing appears to go by the name Memphis. As in "walking in". And so I shall start calling him that.

01.12

And as if by magic, here is confirmation of that lineup.

01.10

TEAM NEWS! I'm looking for official confirmation but this is what we think the Manchester United starting XI will be:

De Gea, Darmian, Jones, Blind, Shaw, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Mata, Depay, Young, Rooney

01.05

Fans have already made their way to Soldier Field

01.00

Hello everyone! Welcome to 1am IN THE MORNING! This is my second shift of the day since starting at 8am and I'm going to take you through all of the wonderful shenanigans that this glorious game will bring, as United look to retain the hugely prestigious International Champions Cup, which is absolutely, definitely a real thing.

00.00

JJ will be in at around 01.00 to bring you all the build-up and then the match itself.

In the meantime have a read of the articles above and preview below.

Manchester United have enjoyed an excellent pre-season so far, and will secure the International Champions Cup with a win tonight (even if it's on penalties).

Adnan Januzaj has been a bright spot in United's pre-season

Louis van Gaal's team have have won all three of their matches in the US so far, with successes over Club America (1-0), San Jose Earthquakes (3-1) and Barcelona (3-1) preceding today's encounter.

And United should be boosted by the return of Bastian Schweinsteiger, who missed the Barcelona match with injury, while Javier Hernandez and Sergio Romero are also in line to feature.

Bastian Schweinsteiger should feature in the match

Adnan Januzaj is expected to start in a central role after impressing so far on the tour.

PSG showed promise in their match against Chelsea, and were unfortunate to be defeated in a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw.

With the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to feature, it promises to be a highly entertaining clash.
