New Year’s is round the block and people are getting psyched up about which NYE party will they attend to. But, in case you were looking forward to attending the one in Bengaluru, where Sunny Leone was about to perform, then we have a sad bit of news for you.
Sunny Leone has refused to perform at the Bengaluru event, after protesters threatened to commit mass suicide if she was allowed to perform there.
In last week’s news, it was learnt that Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene, a youth group, protested against the event and demanded cancellation of it. The reason they cited was an assault on their culture.

A report on India Today quoted the state president of the organisation saying,
Even Home Minister, Ramalinga Reddy denied permission, citing law and order issues. He even had suggested music or Bharatanatyam instead.
After all this, Sunny looked up to the Bengaluru Police to ensure safety of the people and of her own. But when they openly refused, Sunny had no choice but to turn down the deal.
Since the police of Bangalore have publicly said that they will not be able to ensure mine & all who attend safety for my New Years event,my team & I feel, safety of the people should always come first therefore I cannot attend.God bless & I wish everyone a safe & happy New Year!

She further had a message for the youth, which makes A LOT of sense.
To all those who protested and to all those who supported, always remember, never allow others to speak and choose for you.Have your own voice and make your own choices. You are the youth and you are the NEW INDIA! Stand Proud and Stand together. I love you all dearly!

Tweeple jumped in Sunny’s support and expressed their opinions openly.
1. Anchor and journalist Faye was disappointed, like many.
To @CMofKarnataka ,
This is disappointing! How can @BlrCityPolice not be able to provide security to a performance? The city of #Bengaluru deserves better management. https://t.co/rhmR8Tv6n3— Faye DSouza (@fayedsouza) December 19, 2017
2. Photographer Madhu Menon lauded for Sunny’s decision of holding safety of all, above anything else.
Congratulations @CPBlr
Job well done, ensuring safety of people against hooligans. https://t.co/bS3rOeI5VN— ᴍᴀᴅʜᴜ ᴍᴇɴᴏɴ (@madmanweb) December 19, 2017
3. The fact that police openly refused to provide security was the most surprising bit.
@SunnyLeone Proud of your stand. More power to you. Surprised that a government under the progressive #CongressPresidentRahulGandhi not able to provide security. Stay strong. The youth and the young at heart are with you. Jai Ho. 👍👍 #SunnyLeone https://t.co/j3pxxeCQjv

4. Comedian Kunal Kamra just didn’t mince his words.
.@INCIndia Shameful that you guys criticize law and order in UP but can't even manage an event in Bangalore, Chodo yeh double standards & get your act together on this one… https://t.co/dhOYrLUtfF

5. It indeed is sad.
Years ago, Sunny Leone gave up her career in porn to start afresh and we welcomed her with positivity, with an open heart and mind. Today, after years in Bollywood, she is barred from performing in Karnataka. It's disturbingly sad.
I miss old India that welcomed @SunnyLeone— Ram Subramanian (@VORdotcom) December 20, 2017
And, here we are still shocked over the whole matter. We (like others) are stuck upon the fact that they brought Sunny’s past under the scanner, for an event which had nothing to do with it.
When will people stop seeing Sunny through that veil of misogyny? When, on the other hand, the lady has time and again withheld her stand in the most dignified manner.
