Liverpool and Real Madrid suffer major set-back in hunt for Alisson

LIVERPOOL and Real Madrid have reportedly suffered a set-back in their pursuit of Alisson.

Liverpool target Alisson makes spectacular string of saves

The Roma goalkeeper is close to penning a new contract in the Italian capital with a huge release clause of €90million (£80m), according to Calcio Mercato.

January interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain got the Serie A club rushing to tie their shot stopper down to a long-term deal.

Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have been less than convincing on Merseyside and Jurgen Klopp was thought to be searching for a new number one.

Meanwhile, Real have failed to properly replace Iker Casillas, who left the club in 2015.

Alisson is wanted by Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Calcio Mercato add that Alisson is asking for €5m (£4.4m) to remain with Roma.

And that is a stark contrast to the €1.5m (£1.3m) he currently earns.

The valuation given for the Brazilian last month was £40m but if he puts pen to paper in the coming weeks then it would cost double that to price him away.

The Brazilian is reportedly close to signing a new deal with Roma.

Liverpool still have the war-chest from Philippe Coutinho’s sale to Barcelona which they could play with in the summer.

Real are expected to completely overhaul their squad in the summer because of a disappointing season.

And a new goalkeeper is thought to be high on their agenda.
