Top leaders at Outokumpu Oyi, the planned new owner of ThyssenKrupp AG's stainless steel business, will visit Mobile in June to meet with local officials and employees of Inoxum, ThyssenKrupp's stainless steel division.

Outokumpu CEO Mika Seitovirta and Executive Vice President Kari Parvento, both of whom are based near Helsinki, Finland, will primarily focus their visit on meeting Inoxum team members, ThyssenKrupp spokeswoman Mary Mullins said.

The Outokumpu officials will meet with state, local business and community leaders at a reception at the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce on June 6. The event is not open to the public.

Outokumpu announced an agreement in January to purchase Inoxum. The $3.6 billion deal included the stainless operations at ThyssenKrupp's steel production plant in north Mobile County. Shareholders of Outokumpu approved the sale in March.

This will be Seitovirta's first visit to Mobile. Parvento visited the city earlier this year, Mullins said.

Outokumpu, based in Finland, said in April that it will continue to operate separately from Inoxum until the deal is approved by regulators, expected to take place by the end of the year.

The stainless business, with about 550 employees, is the smaller of two units using the mill in Calvert. ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, which produces carbon steel, employs 1,800 people.
