Free/Libre Software

Free and Open Source software grants a set of freedoms to any user that includes at least the right to:
  • use
  • copy
  • modify and
  • distribute
the software.  The model, which includes various licensing options, has fostered a global movement and the development of many technologies.

FOSS-related activities Ada Lovelace: Research and development project contest based in FOSS

The Free Software Network organized a contest for free software-based projects. The contest, sponsored by IBM and Novell, is one of the activities in schedule for the Free Software Network. Its purpose is to stimulate and promote the research in FOSS applications in the economical, cultural and social fields of the country.
