DC Tutoring & Mentoring Initiative
Nearly two out of three DC students (60,000 ) read below grade level. Even more have other needs. COVID is likely to be making the situation worse. There’s no excuse for this in a city where 10% of people helping out for an hour or two a week would mean a tutor or mentor for every student who needs extra help.

Make a difference! We make it easy to get started.
We believe it is our civic duty to give every DC child a chance to succeed.
Helping in any way we can.
We and our partners can transform education in DC, but it will require tens of thousands more volunteers working in schools and in community programs. Don’t see the help you need? Contact us and we’ll do our best to help!
You tell us when and where you can help and about your talents and interests. We will then match you with one of our 40 nonprofit organizations that serve kids who need your help.
Don’t feel ready to be a tutor? Join our mailing list, learn more about our partners online or at an orientation, or help out in other ways.
Does your child need help but you don’t know where to turn? We can help match you with an organization which fits your unique needs, just contact us today! Join us!
It will only take a minute
From becoming a tutor to canvassing, any help brings us closer to ensuring every student in DC is set up to succeed in life!
