It's probably pretty rare to lurk the site for awhile and then finally join and then make your first write-up after a decade. I just didn't feel like I had anything to say and I'm still not sure that I do. Positive feedback and constructive criticism on my first attempt has been really encouraging: thanks to everyone who writes me and suggests ways to improve or just says something decent.

When it comes to licensing, anything that is a factual write-up is in the public domain or a CC-0 declaration. Anything that expresses my viewpoint I would like to be CC-BY 4.0. If you're not clear, it doesn't really matter: it's not a problem to reproduce something that I write. I would certainly like it if you credited me and told me about how you reproduced it but I'm not going to require it.
