Speaking for Senate on Pakistan Ag Sanctions 1998.jpg

Hagel at the podium during a press conference in 1998.

Senator Chuck Hagel's office was a bustling place. Staffers helped him craft op eds and articles in response to pressing issues, released a constant stream of press releases, juggled requests for interviews and appearances, created newsletters for Nebraskans, and arranged weekly calls with members of the Nebraska media. They helped him write speeches and prepare for the senate floor and committee hearings. And all of this activity reflects only part of the Senator's regular press and media responsibilities.

This exhibit includes press, media, and speech material produced by Senator Hagel and his staff as they responded to six issues and events: veterans, drought in Nebraska, the Iraq War, disaster response and recovery in Nebraska, 9-11 and its aftermath, and Native Americans.
