WHEELCHAIRS, FOLDING CHAIRS, AND WALKERS
The Hirshhorn is happy to offer manual wheelchairs that may be used, free of charge, in the building. Light, folding gallery stools are also available. To borrow a wheelchair or folding stool, please ask at the Information Desk or Security Desk in the Lobby.
Our accessible entrance is located around the corner from the main entrance, on the Plaza. All areas of the Museum are served by an elevator.
We follow the Federal government’s guidelines on service animals
. The Smithsonian welcomes dogs that are individually trained to perform a task or work for a person with a disability, but please leave pets at home.
ASL, VISUAL DESCRIPTION, AND TRANSCRIPTS
We are proud to offer scheduled American Sign Language (ASL) tours and Visual Description tours for visitors who require them and their companions. Please check online
for an upcoming tour.
Written transcripts are available upon request for all audio and video artworks on display. Ask any staff member.
Navigate the Hirshhorn with Aira—a free app that connects you with sighted agents who provide on-demand visual descriptions. This subscription service is free whenever you’re visiting the Smithsonian and connected to our Wi-Fi. Learn more and download the app
