Army foils 2 suspected drug smuggling attempts at Syrian border

AMMAN — A Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army official said that the northern military command on Tuesday foiled a suspected smuggling attempt by two people trying to cross the border from Syria, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The military official added that the rules of engagement were applied, which resulted in the killing of one of the suspects and the retreat of the other into Syria. After searching the area, two bags containing 3,000 tablets of Captagon, 131 palm-sized bags of hashish and 2,277 Tramadol bars were seized and transferred to the concerned authorities.

Also on Monday, the eastern military command foiled a suspected drug smuggling attempt by six people on the Syrian border.

The rules of engagement were implemented, the official said, which led to the suspects’ retreat to the Syrian territories. Six bags containing narcotic substances were seized and transferred to the concerned authorities, according to Petra.
