Middle East Special
As the crisis in the Middle East deepens, HARDtalk with Tim Sebastian has travelled to Jerusalem to produce two special editions of the programme.

HARDtalk persuaded senior Israeli and Palestinian representatives, in the spirit of compromise to sit down together, at a single table in Jerusalem and look to the future.

HARDtalk asked them if they could see beyond the violence and rhetoric of everyday and if they could find any common ground between them.

Yasser Arafat
The panel were asked what role Yasser Arafat will play in the future.
We asked both sides if they could see a further role for Yasser Arafat?

Would they be able to compromise on the future of Jerusalem ?

Will the Palestinian Authority accept the need for reform ?

Would the Israelis be prepared to halt the settlements ?

What could they agree on the borders for Israel ?

Guests on the programme include:

Uri Savir, the Israeli Negotiator at the Oslo Peace Process

Ghassan Khatib, the Palestinian Labour Minister

Dore Gold, a leading Advisor to Ariel Sharon

Ziad Abu Zayad, from the Palestinian Legislative Council.
