About our site

We have redesigned our site to make it even better to look at and easier to use.

The main sections of News Online are listed on every page on the left side and at the bottom.

Clicking on any of these links takes you to the section's homepage.

Most sections on the left can be clicked to show sub-sections - so World for instance is divided into six different world regions and has links to well-known BBC programmes.

Lower down on the left are links to our Weather and Sport sites and then additional services such as e-mail news and a downloadable ticker.

On the right side of the page, picture boxes take you to audio and video content, background features and talking points.

Homepages have contents lists, text and graphics links and links to relevant stories from our huge archive.

Many sections have links to BBC news programmes. Symbols like this  Watch  Listen  show that you can watch or hear them.

You can search our site by entering keywords in the box at the top right of the page. For detailed information see Searching our archive in the Help section.
