Legislature passes K-12 bill, adjourns
Both the House and the Senate approved an education spending plan today that included expanded tax credits but not for private school tuition. The action came over strenuous objections from teachers unions. The Legislature then adjourned after a one-day special session.

Supreme Court strikes down law restricting online porn
The Communications Decency Act, intended to curb online pornography, violates free-speech rights, the Supreme Court ruled today. Congress intended the 1996 act to protect children from sexually explicit material on the Internet. But the Supreme Court, saying the law went too far, upheld a lower court ruling overturning the measure.
