I never received my password to create my Home Page
There are a few possibilities as to why you wouldn't receive your password. The most likely is that you mis-typed your E-mail address on the application.

The first thing to do is to try using our Password Utility. Type in your member name or GeoCities address and we will automatically re-send your password to the E-mail address on file. If you still don't receive it, then you certainly entered the wrong E-mail address on the application.

What you need to do next is to send us an E-mail with your first and last names, your member name, your correct E-mail address, and your GeoCities address. Please use "Never received password" in the subject line of your message. We will search the database and send you an E-mail with your password.

I lost my password. What do I do?
If you still have the same E-mail address, then you can use our Password Utility and we will send you your password automatically. If you have a different E-mail address than the one we have on file for you, you'll need to send us an E-mail, with your first and last names, your member name, your correct E-mail address, and your GeoCities address. Please use "Need password to change E-mail" in the subject line of your message. We will search the database and send you an E-mail with your password. You should then use your password to change your E-mail address with our Personal Profile Editor.

How do I know if I'm still registered at GeoCities?
The easiest way to find out if you're still registered at GeoCities is to check the GeoCities address that you signed up for, and see if your member name is still next to it. If it is, then you're still registered. If not, then your profile has been deleted for one of several reasons, but likely because there was no activity in your account for a long period of time.

What do "Member Name" and "Directory Listing" mean on the application?
Member Name is the way that we will refer to you in GeoCities, sort of a user ID. It appears next to your address in the Neighborhood listings, and is also the way you will access all of your information within GeoCities. The Directory Listing is a string that most residents use to describe their page. It appears next to your member name and address in the neighborhood blocks, so people searching the neighborhoods will know what type of page you set up before they visit you. See some examples in the Neighborhood Directory if you still have questions.

How do I change my password, my member name, or my directory listing?
You can change any of the above terms by using our Personal Profile Editor. You will need your current information to access it, so if you don't have it, you can get it by following the above instructions

Why do I get an error when I try to access the Editor or another utility?
There are a few possible errors you may encounter while trying to access the editor and the other user utilities.

The most common error is "member name or password invalid", which means that you're using the wrong user information. You can get the correct info by following the steps above.

You may also see the error "Document Contains No Data". This occurs when the system is very busy, and the script that you're using can't access the database to check your information. If this happpens, check the Current Announcements Page first. If we didn't explain the reason for the error, then try your request again. This will usually work by the second or third try.

You may also get some type of error stating "500 Server Error". This would indicate that there may be a problem with the system, and you chould check the Current Announcements Page. Regardless of what it says there, try your request again later and it will likely be fixed.
