David Price Lunch Menu Man dished up a few choice morsels in a recent interview with Agent of Cool's Wes Kilgore.

AOC: How did Lunch Menu Man begin?

LMM: Part of my job at the Concord Tribune was to personally update several of the lines on a 24-hour information system and I knew I couldn't do much creatively with the obituary line, and the lunch line was equally boring - yet there was room to play there.

AOC: Do you recall your first menu?

LMM: Yes. Lifeless and boring to tears, thus prompting the change to a brighter more exciting lunch menu.

AOC: What has been your favorite menu reading thus far?

LMM: Usually they were the same every Tuesday, or every Wednesday etc., you know. Like every Thursday they had fish sandwich, macaroni and cheese salad, fruit and a roll! Every week. Then one week they added hushpuppies out of the clear blue sky. It was Great!!

AOC: Are any food groups problematic?

LMM: Never met a menu I can't master, or tolerate.

AOC: Are you lactose intolerant?

LMM: No. In fact, milk is a regular item on my menu.

AOC: What advice would you give to kids out there considering a career in menu reading?

LMM: Kids, I reccomend studying HARD!! Learning each and every item of the menu so perfection of pronuciation will be much more effective.

AOC: Is there a Lunch Menu Woman in your life?

LMM: Yes, but I can't say her name. Nah, a wife, Cathie, of five years and two little girs, Maria, 3 1/2 and Kara, 2.

AOC: Where have you been invited to read your menus?

LMM: American Lung Association, hundreds of schools, local restaurants. National T.V. -- Hard Copy, Day and Date, The George and Alana show, several functions for local businesses, car dealers, etc.

AOC: So, when are we gonna see the long-awaited Christmas album?

LMM: Vol. 2. will be available for pre-order October 1, 1996.

AOC: What's in the future for Lunch Menu Man?

LMM: I Just signed a book deal with Scholastic Books. I'm adding more and more cities every day for next school season's menus. What I hope for most is Lunch Menu Man -- THE MOVIE. As far as me, I'll go as far and wide as I can in spreading my message of staying in school. And yes, I'd like a movie as well. Shoot, even a talk show.
