Before you download any preview release software, you should be aware of the following important points. Also, please be sure to note the installation instructions in the read-me file that accompanies the beta software.

No Support

One of the main reasons Netscape puts out preview release software is to test it. With a preview release, the product is still under development and can contain bugs. Netscape welcomes your feedback on the product, but please be advised that Netscape does not provide support for preview release software.
Resources are available to you nonetheless. Netscape User Groups (affectionately known as "NUGgies") are newsgroups where you can meet and greet other users of Netscape software, swap tips, ask questions, get advice, and more. Netscape employees are frequent contributors. Although this is a great place to exchange ideas, there's no guarantee that you will receive answers to the questions you post. If you need an answer to a specific problem, your best bet is the Beta Central page. If you download server software, you can also purchase a copy of Personal Training System's Netscape Server Tutorial from the Netscape Store.

Time-Out

Preview release software has a time-out feature, meaning that it expires after a certain period of time. The purpose of the time-out is to ensure that you come back for the latest software release. The license agreement and read-me file state the specific date on which the software will expire.
Netscape has also added a two-week expiration notification feature: Two weeks prior to the expiration date, a dialog box will appear, reminding you when your software will expire.
Note that the final, shipping version of the product will not have a time-out feature.

To find out about the latest known bugs in beta software, open the Help menu and choose Release Notes. The Help menu also has information on how to provide feedback. You can also check Beta Central for current information about bugs.
