Access v2.0x: Why do I get the message All
buttons on the MindSpring Access Panel can be easily
configured?
Revision Date: 08/12/97
The reason for the message is that the button you just pushed on the MindSpring Access Panel is not set to point to an application. If all of the buttons display this nasty tendency, or if it is one of the first four buttons, you will want to run c:\mspring2\mssetup.exe This program will ask you to re-enter your user information. After clicking Continue, Mssetup will then refresh the relationships between the MindSpring applications. If pushing one particular button results in this message, all you need to do is reconfigure the offending button.
On the MindSpring Access Panel, click Configure, then click Tool Panel.
Click the button you wish to configure.
Locate the application you wish the button to point to.
Click OK, then click OK again, then click Save/Close.

Access v2.0x: I used MindSpring's Web page
to change my password. How do I update the MindSpring Access
Panel?
Revision Date: 08/12/97
Since password authentication is the process of checking the password on our servers against the password you supply, changing a password really comprises two steps. If you use the MindSpring Access Panel to change your password while you are online, both steps are taken care of. However, if you use the MindSpring Account Management Web page to change your password, you have only changed it on our servers; the MindSpring Access Panel must be updated separately.
Click Configure.
Click Password.
Click OK without typing your old password.
Enter the new password, and click OK.
Enter the password again, and click OK.
Click Save/Close.
Remember that password changes can take up to an hour to make it through our circuit of servers.

MindSpring Access v2.0x: Netscape Personal Edition
Revision Date: 08/12/97
Netscape Personal Edition is a version of Netscape that includes its own winsock, or dialer. Some computers come with this edition pre-installed, allowing the user to connect to the Internet and use Netscape without obtaining any other communications software. MindSpring Access, however, uses TCP Pro which includes its own winsock. The Netscape PE installation, unfortunately, often interferes with MindSpring Access's communication with your modem. To complicate matters, there are four different versions of Netscape PE, which each modify your system differently.
If you have experienced problems with MindSpring Access, and have any version of Netscape PE installed, your first course of action should be to locate that program's Uninstall icon in the Program Manager, and run it. If you are unable to un-install, or if after un-installing you continue to experience connection difficulties with MindSpring Access, you will need to disable a number of lines which Netscape PE has added to your system files.
The following procedure includes instructions for AT&T WorldNet Netscape, and Netscape Personal Edition versions 1.1, 1.12, and 2.0.
To disable Netscape Personal Edition:
Switch to the Program Manager, and choose Run from the File menu.
Type sysedit and ENTER The System Configuration Editor will open.
Use Table 1
to perform the following steps .
Locate the section of the table that contains your
version of Netscape PE in the Version column of
the table.
Select the file in the System Configuration Editor that
pertains to the first file listed in the File column.
In the appropriate file, in the System Configuration
Editor, locate the section listed in the Section column.
In the appropriate section, locate the line listed in the
Lines to Disable column.
Disable the appropriate line using the method detailed in
the Disable column:
Where the character ; is indicated, place a semicolon at the beginning of the appropriate line. Where rem is indicated, type rem and a space at the beginning of the appropriate line.
Exit the System Configuration Editor and save your changes.Backups are automatically created for modified files and saved with the file name extension syd.
Close all programs and restart Windows before attempting to connect.
