What is an Agent of Cool? The Cool Site of the Day staff stands firmly behind the sites that it picks. But once in a while we need a little affirmation. Don't get us wrong, we appreciate the thousands of letters and marriage proposals from our adoring fans, but our positive feedback still runs neck and neck with e-mail that questions our mothers' virtue and our ability to walk upright. Sometimes, while passing the latest batch of unmarked packages through the metal detector, we say to ourselves, "maybe we shouldn't have chosen that John Tesh 'unplugged' site." We needed some sort of litmus test. We needed to know what other people liked. Did we enlist the help of the common man? Heck no. We followed a time honored American tradition - celebrity worship - and came up with Agent of Cool. We now have amassed a list of web sites favored by the famous. Now, when we have doubts about a potential Cool Site, we ask ourselves, "What would the Nanny do?" Editor's note: Some of the guests in our archives appeared as CSotD Mystery Guests (MG). The original incarnation of Agents of Cool, Mystery Guest was scrapped when we realized it violated a major tenet of celebrity worship: hype,hype, hype. In other words, we had a hard time promoting a guest while keeping his identity a secret.
