What's New at iMedia

August 1996

Previously, Singapore's Trade Development Board would publish it's trade statistics on a CD-ROM and distribute it around the world. To the take advantage of the speed and flexibility of the Internet, iMedia integrated TDB's Oracle database of trade statistics with their Website. The system, called StatLink, is an interactive service which dynamically generates Singapore's trade statistics in tabulated form on demand. You better check it out now during the free trial period, because iMedia will soon implement a module to require subscribers to pay for access.

Technology Parks' industrial parks and buildings target a world wide audience of companies looking for manufacturing and office space. iMedia worked with their marketing team to create a Website consistent with the print promotions for their TechLink building. With an online slide show and area blue print, the Website showcases all the special features of this high-tech building.

The producers of CHANNEL KTV knew they had an international hit on their hands and wanted to tell the world. To match the 24 hours of Karaoke programming, they asked iMedia to design a flashy Web site that is also open 24 hours. More than just program listings and Karaoke news; this site aims to be the definitive Karaoke stop on the Internet.

infoShipTM officially sets sail! Set along side the Rising Tide at the Raffles Marina, iMedia announced the commercial release of infoShip among the popping of champagne corks. The electronic authoring tool from iMedia was eagerly received by a crowd of international press and industry leaders who came to see infoShip in action. Besides the champagne and software demonstrations, speeches marked the occasion. On hand were iMedia's Managing Director, William Claxton, RoseAnne Alespektor the CEO of the VALIS Group, and Mr. Goh Oon Tong and Ms. Chin Tahn Joo, the National Science & Technology Board's Director of Technology Business and Director of Technology Development, respectively.

iMedia begins to merge CD-ROM and Internet technology by exploring LiveCDTM. With the help of Singapore's Information Technologies Institute, iMedia has begun to incorporate live Internet connections into infoShipTM publications. iMedia joined the National Computer Board (NCB) and 6 other industry leaders to form the On-Line Technologies Consortium (OTC). In order to accelerate the development of the on-line service industry in Singapore, iMedia and the other founding members will combine resources to promote the acquisition of Internet technologies and expertise. As the only member of the OTC who is also a member of the Singapore Digital Media Consortium (SDMC), iMedia will bring it’s expertise in multimedia production to the consortium. With close ties to the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), iMedia is able to offer the OTC and Singapore’s Internet community some of the best technologies available in the world.

iMedia, collaborating with the Curriculum Development Institute of Singapore and EPB Publishing, proudly launched the Good Citizen CD-ROM. To help bring Primary Education into the digital age, iMedia created a fully animated version of this popular children’s title published by EPB. The CD’s 6 stories each reinforce the moral lessons Primary students are taught in class. The familiar characters and engaging animation produce a memorable supplement to the student’s lessons.

They asked iMedia to design a fully interactive CD-ROM presentation that they would distribute with other promotional material. Complete with engaging video and 3-D animation designed by iMedia, the Bullseye CD-ROM marks a new phase in corporate communication.

Not only can people find out valuable medical information and frequently updated hospital news, but they can also forget mundane paper work by setting up appointments and referrals at their home computer. iMedia and NUH entered a long term contract to continually update and improve services offered on this Website.

Singapore Digital Media Consortium turns 1! iMedia and the other co-founders of the SDMC celebrated the anniversary of their joint venture with the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). For the past year, the members have worked towards their goal of developing a public network architecture to support distributed electronic publications. Together, SDMC members now control 70% of the world’s sound board market, and 40% of the world’s CD-ROM hardware market.

To celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Singapore, the National Archives of Singapore asked iMedia to transform their popular book, Kampong Days, into an interactive electronic presentation. Using infoShip, iMedia helped capture all the sites and sounds of life in a typical Singapore kampong. With many interesting interviews and videos, Kampong Days is an exciting step into the past using the most advanced multimedia technology.

To compliment the high tech nature of the exhibition, Reeds collaborated with iMedia to publish the complete interMedia Asia ‘95 proceedings on CD-ROM.

New Media, the U.S.-based magazine that covers the world of multimedia technology, decided to add a third dimension to their popular publication. They approached iMedia to create a CD-ROM version of their 1995 Multimedia Tool Guide and Catalogue. With the help of the infoShip authoring tool, iMedia transformed the 130 page publication into a fully interactive CD-ROM with dynamic audio and video.
