Each year, Internet World invites the public to nominate the best products and services available for enhancing the Internet. This year, the voting will take place from December 1, 1997 to February 15, 1998. After the nominations are tallied, a panel of editors from Internet World will make the final selection, which will be announced at the Spring show in Los Angeles in March.

CATEGORIES:

• Outstanding Desktop Software Product
  For the best desktop software programs that are used by an individual while connected to the Internet or an intranet to accomplish a specific task.
  Examples of desktop software include e-mail clients, browsers, multimedia players, discussion software, scheduling, and interactive collaboration tools.

• Outstanding Server Software Product
  For the best server software programs that are used to manage or control more than one Internet connection to accomplish a specific application
  Examples include servers that manage HTTP connections, streaming multimedia, network security, collaborative applications, database processing and transaction processing.

• Outstanding Web Development Software Product
  For the best Web development software programs used to build, enhance or manage a Web site.
  Examples include HTML authoring programming tools (Java Active X, Perl, etc.), graphics editing, database query tools, site management, interactive data management, data acquisition and graphics acquisition.

• Outstanding E-Commerce Application
  For the best application that conducts business over the Internet and includes a transaction.
  Examples include online stores, incentive marketing, data fulfillment services, and distribution services.

• Outstanding Desktop Hardware Product
  For the best device used to establish and maintain and individual connection to the Internet.
  Examples include modems, network access cards, network terminals, network-enabled phones, and network-enabled desktop computers.

• Outstanding Infrastructure Hardware Product
  For the best device used to manage a broad number of connections to the Internet or an intranet.
  Examples include routers, switches, multifunction servers

• Outstanding Access Service
  For the best service used to enable a specific Internet or intranet function, beyond basic connectivity.
  Examples include e-mail forwarding, web site hosting, wireless access, and transaction processing.
