Network Engineer

MindSpring's Network Operation's Network Engineering group is looking for a new Network Engineer.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of our WAN and LANs including router configuration
• Provide second level support for the Network Operations Center
• Requirements include: A very strong knowledge of IP networking including at least the operating principles behind common IP routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF, and BGP.
• Knowledge of the operating principles behind LAN and WAN technologies such as Ethernet, T1, T3, frame relay, and ATM.
• Knowledge in the operation of modem technology
• At least 1 year of previous IP networking experience.
• A committment to running the network to the highest possible standards. This position can involve long hours, early morning maintenance, and on-call status.

Other very helpful skills include:

• Cisco router configuration
• Bay router configuration
• Detailed understanding of routing protocol operation (RIP, OSPF, BGP)
• Detailed understanding of LAN and WAN technologies
