Java applets
Java is a general purpose, object-oriented programming language that is OS independent. This means you can launch an application written in Java in your web browser regardless of your operating system. Java programs are also known as Java applets. Some disadvantages of using Java are slow load times and limited browser support. Browsers that are Java-capable include Netscape Navigator 2.0 for Windows 95 and Unix/Linux, Netscape Navigator 3.0 for Windows 95, Macintosh and Unix/Linux and Internet Explorer 3.0 for Windows 95 and Macintosh.
