Position: Planning Analyst - II
Job Description: Responsible for reporting on and planning the growth of the Mindspring LAN/WAN Network, managing MSPG relationships with Other People's Networks and conducting ongoing analysis in order to plan the MSPG LAN/WAN network according to a "continuous improvement" philosophy.
Performance Measurement:
Job performance is measured by applicant's overall quality of work and ability to meet commitments.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Compiling/creating excel based reports monthly and publishing in html format to the web.
  • Managing Mindspring's and other people's network utilization in order to ensure quality service to Mindspring customers.
  • Managing Mindspring's network planning to P.. grade of service.
  • Project planning, tracking and coordination.
  • Monitoring and Tracking Marketing, Business Development and External environmental factors affecting quality of service provided to Mindspring Customers.
  • Daily interactions with various department contacts in order to ensure quality service to Mindspring customers.
  • Working knowledge of network planning, telco terms and network issues(GOS) a plus.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of excel.
  • Must have a working knowledge of html.
  • Some project planning experience and knowledge of project planning software package a plus(i.e. Microsoft project or other).
  • Degree in business and/or Telco experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Analysis and Research process and programs a plus.

Network Management Center Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MindSpring's customer networks and leased telecommunications networks using UNIX, Microsoft
    Windows, and Web based tools.
  • Document and report troubles via e-mail, alerts, ticketing systems, web pages, and other external and internal communication.
  • Communicate forcefully and effectively with external vendors to resolve all types of network difficulties. These include telecommunications carriers, IP network carriers, and colocation providers.
  • Alter and upgrade configurations and software levels on production network equipment.
  • Internally document new policies and procedures as they are discovered.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with communications devices including: Modems, PPP/SLIP terminal servers, Ethernet LAN hubs and switches, Digital Multiplexers and Inverse Multiplexers (CSU/DSU's, IDSU's, 3-1 muxes), routers, and PRI ISDN Hubs and interfaces.
  • Basic familiarity with UNIX shell commands and Windows operating systems.
  • Some knowledge of telephone networks and routing on the DS0, DS1, and DS3 levels.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle many responsibilities and tasks with little supervision or prompting.
  • Personal initiative.
