has been upgraded from a tropical storm - and continues to move farther out to sea - toward the Northeast at 13 mph. Maximum sustained winds are now near 75 mph - with gusts up to 90 mph. "Ewiniar" is forecast to weaken quickly - and currently located approximately 390 miles East of Tokyo, Japan.

Bergstrom, TX - hit 103 - and tied the old mark, set in 1962! Casper, WY - got up to 99 degrees - breaking the old record, set in 1940!! And, Helena, MT - has had 38 days of 80+ plus degree heat - which tied a record!

This Day in Weather History: 1936. Depression. Heat Wave.
On August 14th, 1936 - Kansas City, Missouri - hit an all-time record high of 113 degrees! It was one of 16 days in a row of 100 degree heat for the city. It was also one of 53 days of 100 degree heat across the state - and during all of that brutal summer - only 1.12 inches of rain fell.
