InterLibrary Loan Requests

Interlibrary loan permits one library to borrow and issue to its customers materials owned by another library. Interlibrary loan may be used whenever requested material is not available within the St. Louis County Library system, nor the MOBIUS or Prospector lending networks. It is available for all customers holding a valid adult resident card in good standing (i.e., owing no more than $5.00 in outstanding lost/damaged fees or having no more than five books overdue for more than one week). Homebound, teen and juvenile customers are not eligible.

Adult customers may have five requests for returnable items and/or five requests for copies or microfilm pending at one time. Customers will be notified when items are available at the branch. A lending fee could be added to the customer's record for any charges from the lending library.

Interlibrary loan items cannot be renewed.
Not all materials are available through interlibrary loan. The owning library determines which items it will lend.

The owning library also sets the value of the item if it is lost or damaged, which may be several hundred dollars.

Recalls:
Items borrowed via Interlibrary Loan are subject to recall at any time by the lender.

Interlibrary Loan requests may take anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Highly specialized materials may take longer
