The Presidential Decree on the transfer of the administration of Hagia Sophia to the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey and on the opening of Hagia Sophia to worship has been promulgated on the Official Gazette of the Republic of Turkey.
The Decree stated that the Tenth Chamber of the Council of State of the Republic of Turkey repealed Cabinet Decree No. 1934 on the conversion of the Hagia Sophia Mosque to a museum.
The Decree stated that the administration of Hagia Sophia Mosque was transferred to the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the mosque was opened to worship pursuant to Article 35 of Law No. 633 on the Organization and Duties of the Presidency of Religious Affairs.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the image of the Presidential Decree on his social media account with the following note “Auspicious be it”.
