Four division world champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez has made it clear that he has not agreed to a deal or signed any documents related to a direct rematch against Mexico's Carlos Cuadras, whom he defeated in September at the Inglewood Forum in Los Angeles, California.

Speaking Mas Deportes on Canal 23 in Nicaragua, Chocolatito denied an alleged confrontation with Cuadras, which is reportedly going to be held on March 18 at Madison Square Garden in New York - as the co-feature to the middleweight main event between Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs.

He also said that he is not obligated to face Cuadras and has no fear of being stripped of the world title.

At the recent World Boxing Council convention in Florida, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced that Chocolatito was facing Cuadras in March.

"Mauricio Sulaimán said at the Miami Convention that was the fight [I would be involved in] because that's what he wants. They could remove the title from me if I don't accept, but it does not matter because I can not fight in the manner that's being required... for a purse that's less than what we deserve," said Chocolatito.

"If God wants [the fight to happen] and they pay me well as I've asked for a good purse - then we'll fight. We really can not accept a rematch if they are going to pay me little. It would be better to fight in Japan for a smaller purse than in the United States - where you get hit with a lot of taxes and a very low purse is left at the end of everything."

Román did not reveal the purse, but said he was offered an amount that was similar to the first fight, which is something he doesn't like especially because now he ranks as the best fighter in the world pound for pound. Gonzalez reportedly got paid $400,000 for the fight with Cuadras.

"The HBO people are offering me very low money, so I can not accept that fight. I've been struggling to get a good purse, because we are the world's number one pound for pound," Chocolatito insisted.

"I'm thinking about the future of my children, my family. I'm a four division world champion, but they're paying me small purses. We are ready to do whatever it takes. If they remove the title we'll go to another organization. We have proven that we deserve a good amount of money, which we deserve to make a fight with Cuadras.

"That fight is not signed. Cuadras said yes, but he is the type of fighter that if they give him 50 thousand dollars he'll grab it - but I won't."
