Foursquare And Amex Launching Big Partnership Next Week At SXSW

Foursquare and Amex are teaming up for a big partnership that will kick off at next week's South by Southwest conference in Austin.

Foursquare members will be able to link their accounts with their Amex cards.

"Customers who shop at those merchants with an AmEx card will receive credits and electronic notification that they have redeemed the offer," the WSJ writes.

 At SXSW, 60 merchants will have some sort of "spend $5, save $5" promotion, according to the WSJ, with a wider launch later.

For Foursquare, it's a way to potentially get Amex members to sign up for Foursquare, or at least to use it more often. For Amex, it's a way to look cool among Foursquare's users, which skew younger.
