Second version of Galant document "needed for technical comparison."

Police investigators requested on Thursday that the Petah Tikva District Court provide them with Channel 2's version of the "Galant document" for the purposed of conducting a "technical comparison" with the version they currently hold, Israel Radio reported.Investigators have been using the version of the Galant document that was sent to office of IDF Chief-of-Staff Gabi Ashkenazi until now.RELATED:‘In the care of worthy commanders’Analysis: Ashkenazi tries to save faceAccording to police reports on Tuesday, IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi was in possession of the Galant document weeks before Channel 2 publicized its contents on its Friday night news program Ulpan Shishi. The army, under Ashkenazi's instruction, provided the document to police for their examination.Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu began efforts to end the internal fighting among the IDF’s top brass and Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Wednesday, when he issued his first statement since the story about the so-called “Galant document” broke nearly two weeks ago.Netanyahu met with Barak to discuss the ramifications of the document and is scheduled to meet with IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.- Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi in the coming days. He called on the IDF brass to “stop dealing with the investigation” and to continue to cooperate with the Defense Ministry.“I expect the top ranks of the military and the security establishment to continue to work together and cooperate on behalf of Israel’s security,” the prime minister said.Gil Hoffman and Yaakov Lappin contributed to this report.
