DETROIT, MI -- A Detroit resident who paints large scale portraits of others is highlighted in a new Red Bull-sponsored commercial that aired Sunday night during the Grammy Awards.
You can watch the full commercial, promoting the Red Bull House of Art, in the YouTube player below. Artist Tylonn J. Sawyer, who calls himself a draftsman, shares his story in the footage and hope the Motor City will experience
"Detroit, I would say, is a city of soldiers - men and women," says Sawyer, as black and white footage of city buildings and streetscapes are shown. "You kind of have to be to grow up here. It's a city of resilient people - that's what I paint."
The Red Bull House of Art, located in Detroit's Eastern Market, is an artist incubator housed in a former slaughterhouse that hosts eight artists for residency program. It's open to the public at 1551 Winder St.
