Hudson County Races

The Jersey Journal's Hudson County Now has the latest Hudson election results.Freeholder District 1

Incumbent Freeholder Doreen DiDomenico has fended off a challenge from Mary Jane Desmond in District 1, which covers Bayonne and a portion of Jersey City.

DiDomenico was leading Desmond 2,706-1,766 with 51 of 54 precincts and 94 percent of the vote counted. David Longenhagen is far behind with 234 votes, in unofficial results.

Freeholder District 3

Jeff Dublin, chairman of the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders, is winning today's District 3 Democratic primary in a landslide.

Dublin has 2,185 votes, far ahead of Arnold Williams with 191 votes and Ronnie Meadows with 281; 43 of 57 precincts have reported and 75 percent of the total votes counted. District 3 covers part of Jersey City.

Freeholder District 4

Eliu Rivera has apparently held on to his county freeholder seat in District 4 in Jersey City, defeating Sean Connors.

Rivera is ahead of Connors 1,782-1,423 with 98 percent of the votes counted, according to unofficial results. Sonia Araujo has 274 votes.

Freeholder District 5

Hoboken Police Captain Anthony "Stick" Romano won the District 5 Freeholder race this evening under the Hudson County Democratic Organization banner.

With 55 of 56 precincts reporting, Romano has 2,119 votes, Frank Raia has 1,501, and Ines Garcia Keim has 1,418.

East Newark Council

All the votes have been counted in the uncontested East Newark Borough Council primary, tonight's first unofficial result.

Incumbent Democrats Hans Peter Lucas and Jeanne Zincavage ran unopposed to keep their seats. Lucas received 69 votes and Zincavage got 61.

No contests in 5 freeholder districts

Incumbents five Hudson County freeholder districts are running unopposed in today's Democratic primary.

William O'Dea in District 2, Tilo E. Rivas in District 6, Jose C. Munoz in District 7, Thomas F. Liggio in District 8 and Albert J. Cifelli in District 9 faced no competition.

Only two Democrats will have a race in November. Republicans Michael Bartulovich and Jacob Hahn are running in Districts 8 and 9, respectively.
