Free screening of 'The Librarians' episode filmed in Forest Grove at Forest Theater

The episode of the TNT series "The Librarians" that was shot in Forest Grove this summer is airing on Sunday, Dec. 20. You can catch downtown Forest Grove's appearance on the small screen, on the big screen, at Forest Theater.

The movie theater, in coordination with the Forest Grove Leader, is hosting a free public screening of the episode as it airs live, at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20.

This is a chance to visit Forest Grove's only movie theater, and to finish any last-minute Christmas shopping with downtown merchants. The event is free, but Forest Theater will be selling stocking stuffer-sized gift certificates and concessions, including beer and wine, on Sunday night.

The cast and crew of the family-friendly fantasy TV series closed streets and roped-off areas as they filmed for a week in downtown Forest Grove this August.

To accommodate the script for the second-season episode, the crew transformed downtown Forest Grove into "Cicely Island," a fictional Washington town on the Puget Sound. Main Street was adorned with extra planters and several businesses got new signs and exterior decorations. The Forest Grove Leader became "The Pine Conery," some sort of pine cone craft shop, and the outside news rack that week carried "The Cicely Gazette."

The Dec. 20th episode should include plenty of recognizable Forest Grove locations, including Pacific University, the former Connie's Cafe, and Theatre in the Grove.

"The Librarians" stars Rebecca Romijn, Noah Wyle and Christian Kane, all of whom appeared in town for shooting. The show follows a team of mostly-do-gooders known as the Librarians who fight supernatural threats and work keep magical artifacts out of the hands of evil.

The show films in and around Portland. Locals might have noticed a few shots of Pacific University when the team fought a tentacle monster at a college campus in episode four.

Forest Theater is located at 1911 Pacific Ave. You can catch up with older episodes of "The Librarians" on TNT's website.
