Monday, July 30, Har Zion Temple, which will mark its 150th anniversary next year, closed on the purchase of its new home on a 9-acre plot in Pennington, N.J., from its current historic site on Bellevue Avenue in Trenton.

This moment is five years in the making.

The Reform synagogue will move to the new site on Route 31, south of the Pennington Circle and very close to I-95, in tandem with its anniversary.

As the first of two phases of development, the membership will renovate an existing office building into a modern Jewish educational complex and the construction of a new chapel/multi-purpose room. The second phase will include a full sanctuary and social hall.

The closing was undertaken last July 31 at the office of Har Sinai's counsel, Teich Groh, in Mercerville. The synagogue was represented by Marilyn Weinstein, president; Martin Kline, treasurer; their attorney, Barry Frost; and the synagogue's religious leader, Rabbi Stuart Pollack. The seller was represented by Barry Sussman of Pennington Road Partnership and his attorney, Michael Hartsough.

The membership plans to sell the present facility.
