Honeywell Buys Hand Held Products

Honeywell has signed a definitive agreement to buy Hand Held Products Inc. for about $390 million.

The Skaneateles Falls company makes data collection and comunication products for mobile, on site and transaction processing in retail, health care, utilities, transportation, logistics and industry.

Hand Held, a privately owned company, will become part of Honeywell's Security Group within the Automation and Control Solutions business, according to this morning's announcement. Hand Held had sales of about $285 million in 2006.

Hand Held employs about 980 workers, including 650 at its Central New York headquarters.
