Ways how Malta may assist Libya in harbour and airport facilities were discussed this morning when Transport and Communications Minister Austin Gatt welcomed his Libyan counterpart Anwar El Feitori.
Mr El Feitori is in Malta to discuss cooperation between Libya and Malta and will also be meeting Finance Minister Tonio Fenech.
The meeting with Dr Gatt was also attended by a representatives of Transport Malta who recently visited Misurata and toured the severely damaged harbour there.
Last month it was also revealed that Malta may help Libya in air traffic control once the no-fly zone restriction is lifted.
Meanwhile, Mr Fenech will this afternoon attend the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between Libya and NATO for the provision of Air Navigation Services by the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority within limited portions of Libyan Airspace.
The Department of Information said this will be a first step in the gradual transition of airspace responsibilities over Libya. Dr al Feytouri will sign for Libya and and Lt General Ralph J. Jodice will sign for NATO.
