JERUSALEM, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Knesset on Monday mistakes had been made in the newly ended war in Lebanon.
He made the remarks after a U.N.-brokered cease-fire went into effect, ending a month of violence between Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon and Israeli forces, the Jerusalem Post reported.
"We won't sink into blame and guilt -- we don't have that luxury," Olmert said of the military campaign. "We must assure that next time -- and there may be a next time -- things will be done better."
He also said the campaign "hurt the murderous organization (Hezbollah) to a degree that is not yet known to the public," and once again taunted the group's leadership for fleeing into hiding as soon as fighting began, the Post reported.
He said Hezbollah leaders "won't be forgiven. We will hunt them down at every time and in every place, and we won't ask permission from anyone" to destroy them.
