Thousands of believers joined early Sunday the celebrations and Eid prayers organized in the capital's main square where they exchanged greetings and shared joy, emotions of this great day, local media reported.

"The holiday of Eid al-Fitr is the relief of soul, it is the inner satisfaction that derives from the hope of fulfilling the worship and receiving the forgiveness of Allah," Skender Brucaj, head of Albania's Muslim Community, said during the ceremony.

Brucaj highlighted that Eid al-Fitr is the day to respect the elderly with gratitude and love, to stand by the people in need of attention, while he wished all believers for such an important day.

Eid al-Fitr is celebrated for three days, and on the morning of the first day, Muslims gather for prayer.
