Yemen says al-Qaeda militant killed in clash

Yemeni security forces shot dead an al-Qaeda militant who tried to carjack a government vehicle in the south of the poorest Arab country, state media said on Wednesday.

The September 26 Defence Ministry online newspaper said the militant was killed in an exchange of gunfire in Lahj province near the port city of Aden. It gave no further details. (Reuters)
