Oct. 31, 2013 -- When the Jonas Brothers canceled their tour earlier this month, a rep for the band said it was because of a "creative rift." But gossip sites had a different take: Joe Jonas, 24, was on drugs.

"Usually right away, I'll kill a rumor," Jonas, 24, told ABC News. "But because we were kind of figuring out what was going on with us as brothers first, we kept kind of mum about the whole drug thing."

However, this week, the band announced that they were calling it quits, and the middle brother officially cleared up the rumors once and for all.

"Never had a problem with drugs and never done drugs," he said. "I'm good. ... Happy and healthy."

The Jonas Brothers Are 'Family First'

Though Jonas said "it was kind of humorous" for a while, once it was falsely reported that he was doing heroin and that his girlfriend, Blanda Eggenschwiler, was giving him drugs, he knew he had to say something.

"When it affects the people around you and they're pointing at family members [saying], 'How can they be dealing with this for so long?' and my girl, that's the stuff that gets to you," he said. "Luckily now, being able to just shut the door to it is nice."

"It's all false, every piece of it," he continued. "Random people [were] coming up to me on the street, hugging me, being like, 'Are you OK?' I'm like, 'Do you know something I don't?!'"

Throughout it all, Jonas said that his brothers Kevin, 25, and Nick, 21, were supportive.

"We're always protective of each other," he said. "I think the craziest thing is getting texts from friends and stuff because I was so quiet about it."

Now, he's looking forward to the next chapter, which will include more music and hopefully some acting, he said.

"I've done it before and there were so many cooks in the kitchen and I really want to make this project my own," he said, adding that he hopes to do something that combines his love of hip-hop, pop and alternative music."We're all really excited for each other and to have an opportunity and time to do something that I haven't been able to do in a long time."
