Centenary Prize Competition

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Music & Letters' first appearance, the journal’s Editorial Board ran a prize competition during 2018 to find the best original articles in musicology. The Board is delighted to be able to announce the winners of the competition. View the list of winners.

The Westrup Prize

The Westrup Prize for articles of particular distinction published in Music & Letters, vol. 103 (2022) has been awarded to two authors: to Shaena B. Weitz, for ‘Plagiarism and the Napoleonic Potpourri’ (103.2), and to Adam Behan, for ‘Reading Creativity Forwards and Backwards: Process and Product Revisited with Herbert Von Karajan’s Legato Aesthetic and Hypermasculinity’ (103.4).

In 2021, two Westrup Prizes were awarded: to Michele Calella, for ‘Reckoning with the Past: Strategies of Musical Authorship in Liszt’s Thematic Catalogue (1855/1877)’ (101.1); and to Erika Honisch, Escriva-Llorca and Tess Knighton, for ‘On the Trail of a Knight of Santiago: Collecting Music and Mapping Knowledge in Renaissance Europe’ (101.3).
