Transcript of the US House of Representatives investigation of the use of armed guards by the Carnegie Steel Corporation in a strike of the Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers, which led to a pitched gun battle and a number of deaths.
The investigation was conducted by a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee, which took testimony in Pittsburgh on July 12, 1892. Those testifying included H.C. Frick of Carnegie Steel and Hugh O'Donnell, chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Amalgamated Association, as well as Pinkerton Detective Agency representatives R.A. and W.A. Pinkerton, and Terence V. Powderly of the Knights of Labor.
