Founded in 2016, Carnegie India, based in New Delhi, is part of a robust global network that includes over 150 scholars in Beijing, Beirut, Brussels, Moscow, and Washington. The center focuses primarily on three interrelated programs: technology and society, political economy, and security studies. Led by Indian experts with decades of international and domestic policy experience, Carnegie India engages with governments, policymakers, academics, students, industries, practitioners, and civil society to provide insightful and fresh analysis on India’s pressing challenges and the rising role of India in the world.
Technology and Society
Chaudhuri takes a close lens to India’s political questions, such as what India can do after the United States leaves Afghanistan and how its leaders interact with great powers on the global stage. He also focuses on the diplomatic history of South Asia and contemporary security issues. He is currently writing a book on the global history of the Indian Emergency, which occurred from 1975 to 1977.
In an increasingly crowded, chaotic, and contested world and marketplace of ideas, Carnegie India offers decisionmakers global, independent, and strategic insight and innovative ideas that advance international peace.
