Black Culture and History Collection
About this collection
The collection includes materials relating primarily to Black culture and history in the Puget Sound area, including local and regional newspapers and newsletters, pamphlets, brochures and other ephemera.
The majority of collection materials come from the African-American Ephemera Collection which was created by the Douglass-Truth Library. Items were primarily collected by library staff but also include donations from the local community.
The collection also includes an African American Family Photo Album created ca. 1915-1916 showing scenes in Seattle, Washington State and British Columbia.
We will be continually adding more items to the collection as we are able to digitized them.
Our Research Guide includes links to additional resources in our digital collections and the collections of other institutions.
