Summary "Little Men--Big Dreams, Letter One: A [fictitious] letter from the perspective of a film maker in 2017: 'Dear Carl...' -- a video letter dealing with the balancing act of an addiction to glory, success and reality, creating a connection between the Hollywood era of when Carl Laemmle started out and the abyss of the German film industry today. Home--Sweet Home, Letter Two: A [fictitious] letter from the perspective of a relative of Carl Laemmle: 30th March 1938 '...We have heard that Herr Karl Adler, who went to the USA months ago, wants to start a campaign for the benefit of Jews from Wur̈ttemberg, who have a number, but no surety. Maybe he could lend a hand regarding our emigration...?' A video letter reflecting on the desperation and helplessness he felt at the time, the time of the Nazis. Central topic is an affidavit for a journey to America and the associated immense bureaucratic obstacles. When I was a Little One..., Letter Three: A [fictitious] letter from the perspective of a child at play: 'When I was a little one, my pants were short, my hair was long. I went over, went to school, both courageous and in a good mood. Oh, 't was long ago, and I did climb, many a-mountains since that time...' A video letter in the form of a game of Indians, in the style of Heldenmythos, a rhyme by Carl Laemmle for pupils in Laupheim. Short interviews with people from the region: 'Who is Carl Laemmle? Do you know Universal?'"--Publisher description.
