French colonial flags without French flag cantons uploaded by Gryffindor edit

User:Gryffindor has uploaded version of French colonial flags of Syria with the French flag cantons removed, and has refused to explain or discuss in any way what these files are supposed to be, or how they could have any historical validity. Given this, and that some of the flags were added to Wikipedia articles, deletion is the way to ensure that bogus images won't be added to any Wikipedia articles in future. --AnonMoos (talk) 00:13, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Keep You never asked for an explanation, this is the first time I am seeing this. Civil ensign existed for all flags, they just simply did not have the French canton on it, see File:Civil Ensign of Jabal ad-Druze (1921-1936).svg for example. Gryffindor (talk) 11:13, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever -- I left several remarks on both your Wikipedia user talk page and your Commons user talk page and you never bothered to deign to condescend to acknowledge or reply to my queries in any way whatsoever. In any case, the page you linked to says "The governments of Jebel Druze and Latakia (Alawites) do not have a specific ensign", which means that File:Civil_ensign_Alawite_State.png should immediately be deleted. I strongly question whether landlocked entities would have had nautical ensigns, anyway. The FOTW calls http://www.fotw.us/images/s/sy-dr21c.gif / File:Civil Ensign of Jabal ad-Druze (1921-1936).svg a civil flag as opposed to a state flag, but does not call it an "ensign"... Again, this is the first time I am seeing your request. Ensigns existed for all French colonies without the canton. Another example here is for Morocco File:Civil ensign of French Morocco.svg. Gryffindor (talk) 15:59, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Morocco has a sea-coast, while Damascus, Aleppo, and Jabal Druze didn't. Again, what's your evidence that these flags existed, when the external page which you yourself linked to says very specifically that Latakia did not have an ensign, and refrains from calling File:Civil flag of Jabal ad-Druze (1921-1936).svg (as it's now been renamed) an "ensign"?? I know that you think these flags should have existed, but what specific evidence do you have that they actually did exist? -- AnonMoos (talk) 19:13, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kept No consensus to delete. These don't appear to be hoaxes either, so they aren't out of scope -FASTILY (TALK) 04:35, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
