This is WikiProject Food and Beverages, a WikiProject for focused collaboration among users meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, dishes, cuisines, chefs, restaurants, ingredients, and other related topics.

The WikiProject Food and Beverages is a collaboration of editors who enjoy working with images and other media featuring a variety of topics related to food and beverages.

The WikiProject Food and Beverages is a group of editors who seek to improve the Wikimedia Commons collection of media related to the things people eat and drink, as well as where and how they prepare and serve them. We would love for you to join us in our efforts, so please consider becoming an active participant!

WikiProject

This WikiProject is an offshoot of one of the oldest WikiProjects on Wikipedia, the WikiProject Food and drink ("WP:F&D"). While WP:F&D primarily focuses on improving on-topic articles, here on Wikimedia Commons, WikiProject Food and Beverages ("COM:F&B") focuses on acquiring and/or locating images and other media, organizing and categorizing them properly, and highlighting the best images in related galleries. This work benefits all of the Wikimedia Foundation sites, because when media is well organized, it is easy to find and use everywhere.

Scope

We cover a very broad array of subjects, from national cuisines to various food dishes and beverages. The amount of topics that fall under our umbrella is huge, with over 25,000 articles and counting that are grouped into numerous categories.

These are only a few of the topics that fall under our purview:

• National cuisines;
• Chefs and food personalities;
• Commercial food sellers, manufacturers, and restaurants;
• Dishes, beverages and other foodstuffs.

We seek to provide service to Wikimedia commons by"

• Maintaining existing media and acquiring new ones
  • Content management: files, categories, etc.
  • Media (re-)naming: so that media have meaningful names
• Tagging of related media with {{Food media}}, {{Beverage media}}, or a similar tag
• Improving accessibility and awareness of media across all sister wikis and languages
