Description |
Contained in the glass bottle on the left is water collected from the River Jordan at the site were Jesus Christ was believed to have been baptised by John the Baptist. The account is recorded in the New Testament of the Bible. Pilgrims visiting this holy area will often collect samples of the water – for its perceived medicinal and health-giving qualities as a souvenir of their pilgrimage. The bottle is shown here with a similar example (A6033). maker: Unknown maker Place made: Jordan Wellcome Images |
