Environment Ministry, Zewail City sign cooperation protocol in research
Protocol includes technical services, consultations in solid, hazardous waste

gypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad witnessed the signing of a protocol for joint cooperation in environmental fields between the Ministry of Environment (represented by the Environmental Affairs Agency and Waste Management Regulatory Agency) and the Center for Sustainable Development in Zewail City for Science and Technology.
The protocol was signed by Ali Abu Sunna, the head of the Environmental Affairs Agency, Tariq Al-Araby, head of the Waste Management Regulatory Agency, and Mahmoud Abd Rabbo, Executive Director of Zewail City for Science and Technology
According to a statement from the Environment Ministry on Wednesday, the protocol includes a number of axes of joint cooperation, including the preparation of environmental awareness programs at the national level, and by benefiting from the experiences of professors and students in the environmental engineering program to prepare awareness programs. 
Additionally, the second axis of the protocol includes technical services and consultations in the field of solid and hazardous waste, preparing and reviewing environmental studies for facilities of recycling and treatment of waste of all kinds. 
The cooperation also includes evaluating industrial water treatment methods resulting from various industrial facilities and developing appropriate solutions to maximise the utilisation of the water recycling process, as well as reviewing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies for all types of projects, reviewing mitigation measures and environmental management plans for projects.
Moreover, the university will contribute to conducting inter-reviews of industrial facilities, in addition to conducting environmental surveys of industrial clusters, various environmental analysis of water samples, and certified reviews of energy efficiency.
Furthermore, the two parties agreed to cooperate in research and development, and through this axis, modeling and simulation will be conducted for the environmental measurements monitored by the Ministry of Environment, using artificial intelligence to forecast the measurements. 
As part of the protocol, the Environmental Engineering Program will set a vision for the establishment of a joint research centre with the Ministry of Environment, which will be the first of its kind in Egypt in the field of air research, in order to focus on benefiting from air quality measurements and linking the results of measurements to health conditions and future decisions to establish specific project.
