gyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Mohamed bin Zayed, the UAE Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to discuss efforts to protect Arab security.
Al-Sisi said that there is a close link between Egyptian and Emirati national security, reiterating his country’s support for the security and stability of the UAE.
Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said that Al-Sisi reiterated the Egyptian government and people’s solidarity with the UAE in the face of the recent terrorist incident that targeted Abu Dhabi International Airport and resulted in the death and injury of a number of civilians.
He also stressed Egypt’s condemnation of any terrorist act committed by Houthi militias to target security, stability, and the safety of the UAE and its citizens, and Egypt’s support for all measures taken by the UAE to deal with any terrorist act targeting it.
The Egyptian President also affirmed that his current visit to the UAE is a continuation of the close and distinguished relations that bind the two countries and unite them towards a single destiny and future.
Furthermore, Rady stated that Al-Sisi’s visit to the UAE comes within the framework of the specificity of Egyptian-Emirati relations and what brings the two countries together in historical brotherly ties and relations of cooperation and mutual coordination at all levels.
Earlier in January, Al-Sisi and Bin Zayed discussed ways to further enhance the relations and cooperation between the two nations, according to a statement from the official website of the UAE’s crown prince.
On his part, Bin Zayed affirmed that his country’s position coincides with Egyptian efforts to settle the various disputes in the region, stressing the coherence of the common national security of both countries and that Egypt will always remain a pivotal partner of the UAE in the region.
The two sides also agreed to continue to work together in order to confront regional interference and attempts to sow division among the countries of the region and cooperate to confront any risks and challenges that may arise, especially terrorism and the countries that support it.
