Add NBC O&Os to the growing list of programmers that offer pay TV subscribers opportunities to stream live TV on their computers and mobile devices. The broadcaster says that starting today its stations will provide a full array of national, local, and syndicated shows — except for NFL games which won’t be streamed live to mobile devices.
NBC also will offer a library of video-on-demand content.
“Our stations are committed to making it easy and convenient for viewers to watch our programming and this is one more step in that effort,” says NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations President Valari Staab.
The Comcast-owned company has stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, D.C., Miami-Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, and Hartford, CT. NBCU says that its affiliates likely will join the initiative “throughout this year.”
Local and national advertisers will have opportunities to buy time in the live and VOD content.
Those who want to watch NBC on a digital device can do so from the local station web site, or download its app from iTunes or Google Play. Another option is to go to nbc.com or download the network’s app.
